Malls – Chandra Metro Mall – QBowling – Virugambakkam

Hi All,

sharing another experience of the Play area in Chennai location.

We were returning from poonamallee to home, stopped for having lunch near Porur. Decided to checkout for any play areas nearby so my son gets his activities as we were doing a long travel. Google suggested Q Bowling, which is part of Chandra Metro Mall.
Address is 2nd Floor, Chandra Metro Mall, 262, Arcot Rd, Rajeswari Colony, Virugambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Their website is
http://www.chandrabuilders.in

The mall is good for 2 things i.e. the ground floor had a super market called D Mart and third floor has smaller Inox movie theater, in the second floor you find this Q Bowling.

Had time to speak with the owner as the place was not crowded that much. QBowling is not a franchise gaming area, it was owned and run by a private person. The arcade gaming machines and play area items are ordered from China in Bulk, and the technicians who are locally available assemble it. The arcade machines that are manufactured and directly sold in India has the shorter life span say few months, whereas the arcade machines imported from China runs without issues for minimum 2 years. He is able to see decent profit from this business, the crowds does not come exclusively for the gaming center, people who come to super market or movies,
accidentally slip in to the place is what he told. So whenever good movie is released, he gets a decent crowd in his gaming area.

  • About the place, it is a version of fun city where prices are much cheaper.
  • The place did not have Air-conditioner, they were having lot of fans … but still the ventilation is missing. This has been the issue with most of the establishments, when they build something for AC, but they don’t use AC, it becomes extremely difficult when
proper ventilation is not in place.
  • The place has Bowling and Billiards for adults.
  • The place has a cafe or Juice corner as well, i tried Mojito and my wife has coffee.. tasted good. No complaints.
  • There is a 9D cinema available, we did not have time to go through it
  • Since the place is not crowded, the employees/staff are laid back, they all sit in one corner chit chat among themselves or play with theirs phones. Since it is privately owned, there are no rules, no uniforms etc… In a way it was not causing any issues, as the place was not crowded and we had the personal space we wanted.
  • The Children play area is small, it has a slide, tunnel etc
  • They have a typical arcade games which you find in most places, and few machines were not working.
  • There is a bumper car kind off a place, which is very safe… the cars run in very slow manner, very safe, it has a timer set in it. Will automatically gets switched off when time is up.
  • Video games setup with Ps4/Xbox one.
  • Air Hockey table was there….
  • It has the card system, like Fun city. The ranges are affordable as well. I could not remember the rates. Tokens and redemption were also there.
  • Mall is very old, we had escalator not working on the day we visited.
  • Vehicle Parking seems to have a very limited space.

This is a good place for our kids, as it does not attract lot of attention, adults can play billiards and bowling when kids are engaged with other activities.

Below were the few pics taken during our visit:
