Play Area – Kart Wheel – Adyar – Autism Spectrum Disorder

sharing our recent experiences with another Play Area in Adyar:

Kartwheel one of the very few play areas located inside the city and not being part of a mall. The place is an house converted in to a play area. Their website is https://www.kartwheel.in.
It is located in “No.21, Old No.9 Balaram Road, Baktavatsalm Nagar, Adyar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600020”. They work from 10 am to 7:30 pm. (They close by 7:30 pm sharp). Also they are not working on Mondays, it is a weekly holiday for them. Google Map to this location is accurate.

It is an ideal example of a play area on how to use the space available to them effectively for the age group of 2-5 year olds. Kids beyond 5 years of age will not find it interesting or get bored quickly.

The place has indoor and outdoor play area
The outdoor play area has a spiral slider where you have to climb using rope ladder steps, there’s an Rubber Tyre swing, and few cycles and cars available to play around.
The Indoor play area has a infants play area in the hall, after that a ball bit, Dress up room, a inflatable bouncing castle and a room containing wall climbers .. but what is more interesting with this place is that, they have toys, role play / pretend play toy sets, puzzles, books, etc … which makes the kids occupied, its purely because of that kids can spend a whole hour or even more. They kept what kids will like.
The toys which they have is not something you would see in any local shops or in saravana stores, most of them are branded ones which you can only find online or abroad. However most of them are not in the brand new condition, we understand why.
It is a very safe place, very clean and a spacious rest room facility available inside the Play area (i.e. inside of wall climbing room)
Staffs are very vigilant, always monitoring the kids.
The hall has the AC on, but could not feel the same in other rooms … but never felt sweating inside.
Socks were not insisted for the kids, but shoes are to be removed while entering the place.
There is a Birthday party hall available upstairs and they have separate package rates for it.
They also sell beverages and snacks
The charges are very nominal, they charge 175 rs per hour.
Seating are is available for the parents to sit.
Parking is difficult, as the entire area is purely residential you would see cars parked in most of the places .. you have to drive to some distant place for parking. I recollect seeing an ad they have valet parking facility on specific days or time zones.
It does not have Arcade games, it is purely a play area.

The place is crowded on weekends, and moderate crowd in the evenings of weekdays …. very free during day time of weekdays (unless it is an holiday season). It is a must visit place for every kid less than 5 or 6 years old .
