Play Area – Yoyo Games – Avadi – Autism Spectrum Disorder

sharing our experience with the play area we visited recently. The place name is Yoyo Games, located in Avadi.
We visit Avadi once a month for a checkup with doctor there, this time i wanted to see if there is any play area located nearby so that i can take my kid there. Found that there was one near the Avadi signal, the full address is NO:321, C.T.H ROAD, AVADI, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600054.

It was already 8 pm when we visited the doctor, after that we went to this place by 8:30 pm. The place seems to be open till 9:30 pm in the night.

The place is more of an arcade game center and has a small play area setup for the kids. It is certainly not worth your time, if you are living in any other part of the city where you have access to better play area setup. Since there is nothing of this sort in Avadi, this place is running with whatever they have built.

Had a chat with owner, who mentioned that he had spent a huge amount as capital and further more for marketing it, he is still yet to recover it. Weekends are jam packed often, but still they claim they are running in loss/lesser profits in most of the months.

My review about the place is:

1) The place is not a formal gaming center, you don’t have proper computerized billing etc .. It is very informal, run by older couples. There is no clear tariffs mentioned anywhere, no tokens won from gaming machines, no redemption’s etc.

2) The place i felt is not very clean, there was plenty of unused spaces available which could be better utilized.

3) The small play area which they have, contains a slider and ball pool nothing more.

4) The arcade games are few in numbers, they have frog game where kids hit with hammer, Kid rides, Air Hockey table, Basket ball, Bike Race, Fancy Bowling, Mr.Octopus, Car race games, X box connected with TV, Few Carnival games like balloon shooting with guns etc were present.

5) All the machines are operated by coins, the tariff is 250 rs for 10 coins 350 rs 20 coins i guess, which i felt is expensive.

6) Most of the arcade machines does not work in first instance, the owners will come with a key to open it and do some repair work, only then it works. The coin slots are damaged, as a result every coin you drop does not goes in, it gets struck in between.

7) The Fancy bowling arcade game should have a much heavier ball to roll over, instead they had a air stuffed ball, which was very light, could not play it as expected. Since we played this game in different places, we felt the difference here.

8) There is no caretaker to monitor kids in the play area, may be it is very small they decided not to have anyone.

9) Toilets could have been better, i found there was no latch on the door.

10) Air conditioner were in the switched off state when we visited there, probably it was late. Not sure if they are working or operated during day time hours/ weekends.

They should invest more in maintenance of the games and make optimum utilization of the space, only then they can make profits, and invite better crowds, else the end is not very far for them. The vibe of this place is not very positive.
I would not suggest this place to any one from the city, this is meant for people from the locality of Avadi.
