ECR Shops – Odyssey – Thiruvanmiyur – Autism Spectrum Disorder

Hi All,

my son is fond of books related to animals, be it reading books or coloring books. The best place for me to buy a good volume of such books at a decent discounted price is during the book exhibition that happens every year during January. That purchase holds good for the entire year, however since he has grown up now, i have depleted the stock i had purchased last January, and i was looking for shops where i could buy few similar books nearby my residence.

The local shops does not have any such books, even if they do have they are of cheap quality which gets torn out during the coloring or simple turning of pages. So i went to google searches for few shops, found a couple of shops, decided to visit Odyssey
located in Thiruvanmiyur, few blocks away from Thiruvanmiyur RTO office. The complete address is:

The shop has a decent two wheeler parking, but difficult to park cars. The shop is located in the basement. I recollect the memories of good old days of visiting Landmark shops, it has the same feel. The place is quiet and not crowded, which is understandable as they sell only branded items which are overly priced.

I found their book collection to be extremely decent for children’s, even though they are from reputed publishers, they have a good variety of books and nicely stacked as well. They have nice coloring books collection and story books, you can find the pepper
stories series books here. With respect to stationary items, you can find all supplies required by the children, few are bit pricey hence pick based on price or your affordability.

They have a good collection of stuffed animal toys, puzzles, activities etc. for all ages, again its all branded products which are bit pricey. This is a shop which can satisfy your immediate needs, but if you are looking for more economical options, we need to
visit far off places like T.nagar, Triplicane where bigger and dedicated book shops are available.

At the billing counter, you have a magazine section, where you can find the best sellers collection. Please carry a bag, as they do not provide one, they would only provide a brown envelope in which the items purchased will be put in. Not easy to carry around in
case of larger purchases.

The irritating part about the shop is that, some attender would come and stand close & stare at you, till you exit the shop as if you are convict came to rob the store !! I have seen this in few cheap supermarkets, but did not expect at branded stores. Probably
they might have had past incidents which made them do it, however i am not liking it.
