Play Area – Coco Play Nut – Kottivakkam

Hi All,

sharing our experience with another play area …The place name is Cocoplaynut, located in Kottivakkam.
Full address is 3/519, lakshmana Perumal nagar, 5th Cross Street, Kottivakkam, Chennai – 41
Contact Number is 70920 02244, the place operates from 11 am to 7 pm in the evening. This is newly built, kind off 6 months old as on date, we have been to this place multiple times by now. Their website is http://cocoplaynut.com

The place is located in the interior part of Kottivakkam, not easily known or accessible, the roads are very narrow, difficult drive by car if encountered incoming bigger vehicles from the opposite direction. However once you find the place, you have a car parking facility inside their compound, around 8 cars can be parked, the street is a dead end, you don’t see vehicles moving a lot.

Cocoplaynut have a larger land space, in which they have planned for indoor and outdoor games accordingly. It is ideal for kids below 6 years of age. They have the following facilities:

1) Indoor Play area with slider, ball pool, Trampoline and wall climbing for older children above 4 years of age.

2) A bigger ball pool, small slides, trampoline, electric train etc are available for young children around 2-3 years

3) Their waiting area contains book shelves with few comics known to kids.

4) Outside they have a small size pool where boats with pedal can be done by kids of 4 years and above. They provide life jackets even though it is hardly less than 2 feet of depth.

5) Outside they have a sand pit, where kids can get dirty and build their sand castle.

6) They have a tree house built which is nice, you have to go up using steps, the house contains all kinds of role play toys, once done you have to come down through spiral slide.

7) Below the tree house, you have some equipment’s that involves physical activity

8) They have few animals within the compound, like goat, turkey, hen/rooster, etc… whom we can feed. Also there is a bird cage available.

9) Birthday party bookings happen a lot, infact i went to this place thrice, on all occasions there was a birthday party happening.

10) Outside food is not allowed, they provide snacks (mostly frozen smileys, french fries etc), and the price is reasonable.

11) Even though they are not an Arcade game center, they do have one game where kids use hammer to hit the animals that pops up. No coins/cards involved, one can play as many times as they wanted to play.

12) There are few cycles outside which kids can ride.

My personal feedback about them is:

1) All the caretakes are women, found them very helpful and friendly as they are constantly around the kids. They all wear black tops. In most of the other places, the caretakers chit chat among themselves ignoring the guests, it is a good job by the owners to ensure such thing does not happen here.

2) They do not insist on socks, as the play is mixed (indoor and outdoor)

3) During my first visit, they brought a smaller bird inside and allowed us to play with it. Every one was impressed and took selfies with birds on their hand. This was a very good thing and unique to this place. However during my subsequent visits, this did not happen as the owner who is running the place is occupied with the birthday party guests, she could not bring the birds inside for play. They should train other caretakers to handle the birds, so that everyone who visits the place can experience it.

4) The play area and other activities are safe for the children to play with and are very clean as well.

5) Toilets are also clean , however recollect seeing some permanent stain in the gents/boys toilet, would be good if they fix it.

6) CCTV Cameras are installed and monitored at the reception, however i did find the seat to be empty on most of the occasions as they are shortage of staff during birthday events.

7) They have a good signup practice, where you register your details in a TABLET which is connected to network. They charge 300 Rs for the first hour and for every subsequent hour it will be 100 Rs per hour.

There is no complain about the place, it has a mix of activities, good motor skills for the children, nicely air conditioned, good caretakers, etc … however one cannot make beyond 6 visits at the max, as there will be nothing new and your kid will be bored.

I would love to see them make use of the larger unbuilt area to with other varieties of activities for kids like a splash pool with fountain, swings, moon bounce, carousel or carnival games. I see from their FB page, they did host such events in the past… expect such events once in every 2 months so that kids continue to be excited coming to this place.
